Katikies is the hotel that taught the world what a Santorini honeymoon looks like. The original infinity pool — the one that appears to spill over the cliff into the caldera — is on Katikies' main terrace, photographed approximately twenty thousand times a day in season. The hotel was built in 1976 from a cluster of restored 19th-century captains' houses and cave dwellings on the Oia cliffside, and it has been a benchmark luxury property since the late 1990s. Twenty-seven suites and rooms, all caldera-facing, the higher tiers (Honeymoon, Junior, Royal) with private plunge pools cut into the rock. The hotel does not allow children under sixteen. The signature Champagne Lounge serves only champagne and caviar; the Mikrasia restaurant on the upper level wraps the cliff edge.
