The Hotel Jerome opened in 1889 at the peak of Aspen's silver mining boom — built by Jerome Wheeler, the Macy's department store heir who also built the Wheeler Opera House across the street — and has been the social centre of Aspen life for 135 years. The Auberge Resorts Collection took management in 2012 and restored the Victorian exterior, the lobby's original pressed tin ceiling, and the J-Bar to their 1889 appearance while introducing the service infrastructure of a contemporary luxury hotel.
The 94 rooms are the most historically furnished in Aspen: Victorian detailing, four-poster beds, and the antique fixtures that the Wheeler era demanded.
