The Hotel

Skylofts at MGM Grand occupy the top two floors of the 30-story MGM Grand tower at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. There are 51 lofts in total, and the operation runs as a hotel-within-a-hotel: a private check-in lounge behind the main MGM lobby, a dedicated elevator bank that climbs directly to the 29th-floor lobby, and a 24-hour butler corps that handles every guest interaction from arrival through departure. The lofts were designed by Tony Chi, opened in 2004, and have aged better than most Las Vegas accommodations of similar vintage — partly because the property is rented far below its capacity for any given week, and partly because the level of in-room maintenance is closer to a private residence than to a 5,000-room casino hotel.

The standard accommodation is the One Bedroom Skyloft, a two-story duplex with floor-to-ceiling glass running from main floor to mezzanine. The lower level holds a kitchen, sitting area, dining table for six, and a powder room; the upper level, reached by a sculptural staircase, contains the bedroom, walk-in closet, and a marble bathroom with a freestanding deep-soaking tub positioned to face the Strip. The Two Bedroom Skylofts double the footprint and add a second bedroom suite. The Three Bedroom Skyloft, at 6,000 square feet, includes a private billiards room, media lounge, and is the largest single accommodation MGM Resorts operates anywhere in the world.

The included service programme is the property's central proposition. Every Skyloft booking includes 24-hour butler service, a chauffeured Rolls-Royce or Cadillac Escalade airport transfer, in-loft check-in (the butler arrives at the loft with paperwork, key cards, and a welcome cocktail), and access to the private MGM VIP arrivals lounge for stays involving travelling companions. The butler can arrange in-loft private dining from any MGM Grand restaurant — Joël Robuchon's three-Michelin-star room is a five-minute escort downstairs — preside over a couple's spa treatment in the loft itself, and execute the kind of bespoke setup (private rooftop dinner, helicopter Grand Canyon transfer) that the rest of Las Vegas requires three vendors to produce.

The MGM Grand's broader operation provides the supporting infrastructure: thirteen pools, twenty restaurants, the GRAND Spa, the Hákkasan and Wet Republic nightlife venues, the David Copperfield theatre. Skylofts guests carry a black access card that grants priority on any of these resources — but for many guests, the loft's private terrace and butler-driven in-room programme means the rest of MGM Grand is optional rather than the point.

Best for Honeymoon

Skylofts is the most discreet honeymoon address on the Strip. The private elevator means newlyweds don't cross the casino floor unless they choose to; the Rolls-Royce airport transfer sets the register for the trip; the in-loft butler can run a tub of rose petals, a champagne breakfast on the upper-floor balcony, and a turn-down ritual without the couple lifting a finger. The two-story configuration delivers the kind of architectural "wow" that honeymoons want and standard hotel rooms can't produce. See all honeymoon hotels →

Best for Anniversary

For milestone anniversaries — tenth, twentieth, twenty-fifth — Skylofts delivers a celebration that the rest of Las Vegas struggles to match in a single accommodation. A private dinner from Joël Robuchon, served by the butler at the loft's dining table for six, is the kind of evening that the property arranges as a single line item. The Three Bedroom Skyloft at 6,000 square feet handles multi-generational anniversary celebrations for up to twelve guests under one roof. See all anniversary hotels →
