About Le Roch Hôtel & Spa

The Roch sits on Rue Saint-Roch in the 1st arrondissement, equidistant from the Louvre, the Opéra Garnier, and Place de la Concorde — a triangle of cultural and visual weight that few hotels on earth can claim. The hotel opened in 2016 as a member of Design Hotels, which designates independent properties with a credible design and hospitality point of view. The designation is earned here.

The thirty-seven rooms are finished with the kind of concentrated attention that boutique scale makes possible but does not guarantee. Noble materials — oxidised metals, natural woods, brushed cottons — are used with discipline rather than profusion. The Cosy rooms are compact but considered. The Superior rooms offer proper sitting areas and more natural light. The top-floor Luxury Suites are the hotel's argument: a bedroom with a king-size bed, a living area with a sofa bed, a large dressing room, a private hammam, a personal wine cellar, and a private terrace that looks out over the 1st arrondissement roofscape. Every room has Codage toiletries and a Nespresso machine, which are small things that indicate larger values.

The restaurant serves breakfast and light meals with a quality that exceeds the obligation — house-made pastries, seasonal produce, and a coffee programme that takes itself appropriately seriously. The hotel's wine cellar is curated by a sommelier who understands that guests staying in a Paris boutique hotel in the 1st arrondissement have particular expectations about Burgundy.

The wellness philosophy is integrative — a hammam, steam room, and treatment programme using Codage protocols. It's not the 1,500-square-metre spa of the Raffles a few streets away, but it's coherent and well-executed, which for a 37-room hotel is the appropriate ambition. The gym is compact but properly equipped. The rooftop terrace, reserved for guests, is the hotel's secret: a private outdoor space in one of the most densely inhabited arrondissements in the world, with sky and rooflines uninterrupted above.

The neighbourhood requires no augmentation. The Tuileries gardens are a three-minute walk. The Louvre's Richelieu Wing is ten. The Palais Royal gardens — one of Paris's great civic achievements — are five. Rue de Rivoli is around the corner. This is Paris as it should be experienced: on foot, unhurried, with a hotel that understands why you're here.

Best Occasion Fit

Solo Retreat

The Roch is ideal for the traveller who wants to disappear into Paris rather than be managed by it. The boutique scale means anonymity without isolation. The location means the Louvre on a Tuesday morning, the Tuileries on a Wednesday afternoon, and the Palais Royal on Thursday evening — all without a taxi. The private hammam suite is the finest way in the 1st arrondissement to spend an afternoon entirely alone.

Wellness Retreat

The Roch's wellness offering is coherent rather than comprehensive — Codage treatments, hammam, and a fitness room that takes itself seriously. Combined with the walking-distance access to Paris's finest parks and gardens, a wellness stay here is self-designed rather than programmatic, which suits guests who define wellness as engagement with the world rather than withdrawal from it.

Anniversary

Book the top-floor Luxury Suite for an anniversary and the hotel does the rest of the work for you. The private hammam, personal wine cellar, and rooftop terrace create the conditions for a Paris anniversary that doesn't require leaving the building until the next day. The concierge knows every serious restaurant within walking distance. The location makes dinner at the Louvre's Café Marly — a ten-minute walk — an obvious choice.
