The Hotel

The Royal Palms Resort occupies the grounds of the 1929 Mediterranean mission estate built by Delos Cooke for his wife Isabel — a private property that operated as one of Arizona's first luxury resorts after World War II and has been managed as a boutique hotel since 1948. The original estate architecture — white stucco, red clay tile roofs, arched doorways, and the royal palms that give the property its name — is intact and defines the property's character completely.

The 119 rooms and suites occupy the original main house, casitas in the garden, and a guestroom building that was added in the 1990s without compromising the estate's character. The garden casitas, with their private terraces and direct garden access, are the most romantic accommodations in Scottsdale. The ALVADORA Herbal Spa uses herbs grown in the estate's own garden.

T. Cook's restaurant is the most genuinely romantic hotel dining room in Scottsdale — the fireplace, the intimate scale (60 seats), and the Mediterranean menu create an evening that the larger resort restaurants cannot replicate at any price. The proposal gazebo in the orange garden is where Scottsdale proposals actually happen.

Best for Anniversary

The Royal Palms anniversary experience is built around T. Cook's — the 60-seat dining room, the fireplace, and the orange garden terrace create the most intimate anniversary dinner in Scottsdale. The estate's 1929 character gives the stay a historical resonance that the newer resorts cannot acquire. See all anniversary hotels →

Best for Proposal

The Royal Palms proposal gazebo in the orange garden is Scottsdale's most used proposal location — the hotel's scale means that proposals are managed individually rather than processed, and T. Cook's private dining room handles the dinner that follows. The ALVADORA spa's couples suite provides the afternoon. See all proposal hotels →
