Aquaventure waterpark on-site, underwater suites, the Disneyland-Dubai honeymoon.
"Aquaventure waterpark on-site, underwater suites, the Disneyland-Dubai honeymoon."
Atlantis The Palm opened in 2008 as the original Atlantis on the crescent of Palm Jumeirah, and it is still the most recognisable silhouette out there: the great pink arch, the Aquaventure waterpark sprawling at its feet, the Lost Chambers aquarium wound through its public spaces. More than 1,500 rooms spread across the complex, but the honeymoon booking everyone pictures is an Underwater Suite, its bedroom and bathroom walled in floor-to-ceiling glass that looks straight into the Ambassador Lagoon and its 65,000 fish, rays and sharks. For a couple who wants the maximalist, theme-park side of Dubai, this is the address: the waterpark, the dolphin and sea-lion encounters, Nobu in the lobby, and a value tier well below the newer Atlantis The Royal next door. The honest caveat: this is a vast, family-heavy resort, so it trades intimacy for spectacle, and an Underwater Suite is a serious splurge rather than a casual upgrade.
An Underwater Suite for the bedroom that looks into the Ambassador Lagoon, or the Royal Bridge Suite spanning the arch for the multi-bedroom upgrade.
If the budget stretches, the Underwater Suite is the booking the whole trip is built around, so reserve it early. Save Aquaventure for a full day rather than an afternoon, and book Nobu in the lobby for the big dinner.
Atlantis The Palm sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels in Dubai for a Honeymoon list. It scored an aggregate 9.6/10 across the three editorial criteria, competitive against the field but, on a honeymoon-specific factors, the angle above is what earned its rank. For the alternatives in the same Dubai neighbourhood, see Palm Jumeirah and adjacent. For a different city entirely, see the related lists below.
If you have already chosen the dates, our editor recommends booking the room twelve weeks ahead. Suites with the prime view angle sell through first; for peak months, availability is measured in months rather than weeks. Top-category rooms with private pools or terraces, the reason this hotel ranks here, are routinely the first gone.
