"A 19th-century lakefront villa just outside Como, where Garibaldi married in 1860, now a 53-room hotel with the Raimondi restaurant on the water."
Villa Flori is the value-conscious romantic on Lake Como, well suited to a proposal that wants a lakefront terrace without a grand-hotel price. The 19th-century villa was built by Marchese Raimondi and is woven into Italian history: Giuseppe Garibaldi married here in 1860, and the room he stayed in is preserved. It became a hotel in 1958 and now has 53 rooms, almost all with a lake-facing balcony or terrace, set in its own park a short drive from Como's centre on the road toward Cernobbio. The Raimondi restaurant, led by chef Fabio Castiglioni, sits on a waterside terrace reached by the hotel's private dock. The honest trade-off is position over polish: Villa Flori is on the lake but just outside the village, on the lakeshore road, so you trade the storybook setting of a Bellagio or Cernobbio address for easier access to Como and a gentler rate. Choose Villa Flori for a proposal on a private lakeside terrace, with Como and the ferries close at hand.
Request a Junior Suite Lake View, or the Gran Lago Suite with its private garden position, for a terrace right over the water. The standard lake-view rooms still deliver the balcony and the view at a lower rate.
Book the waterside table at the Raimondi restaurant for the proposal and arrive by the hotel's private dock at sunset. The next morning, take the ferry from Como toward Bellagio and Villa del Balbianello.
Villa Flori Como sits within our broader Top 20 Hotels in Lake Como for a Proposal list. It scored an aggregate 9.1/10 across the three editorial criteria, competitive against the field but, on a proposal-specific factors, the angle above is what earned its rank. For the alternatives in the same Lake Como neighbourhood, see Como city (northern outskirts on the lake) and adjacent. For a different city entirely, see the related lists below.
If you have already chosen the dates, our editor recommends booking the room twelve weeks ahead. The view-facing suites disappear earliest, and high-season inventory moves on a timescale of months, not weeks. Top-category rooms with private pools or terraces, the reason this hotel ranks here, are routinely the first gone.
