Honua Kai Resort and Spa is the all-suite, full-kitchen condo-resort on the north end of Ka'anapali (Kahekili Beach, immediately north of the Sheraton Maui's Black Rock), opened in 2009 as one of the newer Maui resort properties. More than 600 suites are split between two towers, Hokulani to the south and Konea to the north, with a separate cluster of luxury townhomes alongside; the family flagship is the three-bedroom suite, with a full kitchen and in-suite washer-dryer. What sets it apart for families is the combination: a full resort (a four-pool complex with the Aquatic Playground waterslide pool, the Honua Kai Spa, and the beachfront Duke's Beach House restaurant) paired with an all-suite, full-kitchen condo product that comfortably sleeps a party of six or eight. Honua Kai is the right pick for the multi-generational holiday with grandparents: the three-bedroom suite is the centrepiece, the kitchen handles breakfast and lunch, the resort handles the pool, dinner and luau programme, and the snorkelling off the north side of Black Rock is the same access the Sheraton has next door.
