Old money, new standard. Palm Beach's 14-mile barrier island contains the highest concentration of inherited wealth in the United States, and the hotel scene, led by The Breakers since 1896, reflects it without apology.
Concierge tip: in season, December through April, the island runs full and formal. Reserve restaurant tables and a cabana when you book the room, and ask for an oceanfront category by name, garden and courtyard rooms cost less but trade away the water you came for.

The Breakers Palm Beach anniversary experience, the 1926 Renaissance Revival grand hotel, the Circle dining room, the private beach, and the Henry Flagler history, is the most historically freighted anniversary in Florida. For something more contemporary, the Four Seasons Palm Beach's beachfront position and Florie's restaurant constitute a milestone stay at the highest current service standard available between Miami and the Keys.
Occasion Edit
The Brazilian Court Hotel, the 1926 Mediterranean Revival resort where Cary Grant honeymooned and the Mizner architecture defines the room configuration, is Palm Beach's most romantic honeymoon hotel. The private bungalow courtyard, the proximity to Worth Avenue, and the Daniel Boulud restaurant on the ground floor provide the honeymoon infrastructure. The Breakers Oceanfront Suite is the alternative for couples who want the grandest single room on the Florida coast.
Ranked by overall editorial score.
The grande dame of Florida luxury since 1896. The Italian Renaissance building, the private beach, and the private golf are the argument, and the argument is unanswerable. Five-Star. From $600/night.
The Breakers' serious competition. The beachfront position, the Florie's restaurant, and the Four Seasons service standard make it Palm Beach's most complete luxury resort. Five-Star. From $600/night.
The 1926 Mediterranean Revival courtyard hotel where Cary Grant honeymooned and Cafe Boulud Palm Beach operates from the ground floor. Old Palm Beach character, current service. Historic/Heritage. From $450/night.
The pink hotel on Brazilian Avenue since 1947. Jonathan Adler's redesign in 2022 produced Palm Beach's most joyful hotel interior. Boutique. From $350/night.
The most complete spa resort south of The Breakers. The Eau Spa's 42,000 square feet and six pools make it Palm Beach's premier wellness address. Five-Star. From $350/night.
The most English hotel in Florida. The leopard-print carpets, the afternoon tea, and the Butler's service are entirely without irony. Boutique. From $300/night.
Singer Island's finest resort, with direct beach access and the most complete family pool complex north of Palm Beach proper. Beach/Island. From $300/night.
West Palm Beach's most social boutique. The rooftop pool and the Chez Lè Bear restaurant make it the Clematis Street district's most complete hotel. Boutique. From $250/night.
Five championship golf courses and the Butch Harmon School of Golf. The Honda Classic is played here every February. Five-Star. From $300/night.
Seven rooms in a 1925 Mediterranean Revival house in West Palm Beach's historic district. The tropical garden pool is a private retreat. Boutique. From $200/night.
City Guide
Palm Beach's season is winter, November through April, when the island's permanent and seasonal population arrives and Worth Avenue becomes the most exclusive retail corridor in Florida. Summer is hot, humid, and quiet; rates drop 40% and the island reverts to a residential character. The Palm Beach International Art Fair in April and the Henry Flagler events season mark the transition from high to low season.
Palm Beach is an island with a single main road, South Ocean Boulevard on the oceanfront, Worth Avenue inland. The Breakers sits at the northern end; the Four Seasons at the southern end. Worth Avenue connects the island's luxury retail. Palm Beach Gardens and West Palm Beach, across the Intracoastal, are different communities with different hotel options.
Palm Beach luxury hotel rates average $400, $700 in peak season (January, April), with New Year's and Presidents' Day weekend producing rates of $1,500+. The Breakers has its own rate structure that effectively defines the market ceiling. Summer rates drop to $200, $400. The Palm Beach hotel tax is 12%.
Palm Beach is the most private island in Florida, the gates at both bridges are unmanned but the culture of the island is one of implicit membership. Worth Avenue is the primary destination: 50 blocks of the finest luxury retail in the Southeast. The Flagler Museum (the 1902 Whitehall mansion) is the finest Gilded Age house in Florida and requires 90 minutes. Dinner reservations at Buccan or Meat Market require 2 weeks advance booking in season.

The Breakers is our top pick and the island's defining grande dame: a 538-room Italian Renaissance resort open since 1896, with its own private beach, two golf courses, and 2026 additions including new grass tennis courts and a Beach Club restaurant. For the most polished modern service, the oceanfront Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach is the close rival, ranked No. 20 among Forbes Travel Guide's Best Resorts in the World in February 2026. Both run from about $600 a night.
For couples, the Brazilian Court Hotel & Beach Club is the intimate choice: an 80-room 1920s courtyard hotel a few blocks from the sea, with Cafe Boulud downstairs. The Colony Palm Beach brings in-town, pink-walled social energy near Worth Avenue, while Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, at the quieter south end in Manalapan, pairs a large spa with oceanfront calm. Choose Brazilian Court for romance, Eau for spa and space.
Palm Beach runs on a winter season. The peak is roughly December through April, when the weather is dry and warm, the social calendar is full, and rates and demand are at their highest, holiday weeks and the March stretch book months ahead. May and November are pleasant shoulder months with softer pricing. Summer, from June through September, is hot and humid with afternoon storms and falls inside hurricane season, but it brings the lowest rates of the year.
Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) in West Palm Beach is the closest, about a 10- to 15-minute drive across the bridge to the island. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) is roughly an hour south, and Miami International (MIA) about 70 to 80 minutes, both useful for wider flight options. Most island hotels are within easy reach of PBI, and a car or car service is the simplest way to move between the resorts and Worth Avenue.
The oceanfront hotels are The Breakers and the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach on the island itself, and Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa just south in Manalapan, each with direct beach access. The Colony Palm Beach and the Brazilian Court Hotel sit a short distance inland near Worth Avenue and provide beach-club access rather than a private beach of their own. If waking up over the water matters most, book The Breakers, the Four Seasons or Eau.
Palm Beach is a high-season luxury market. In peak winter, The Breakers and the Four Seasons start around $600 a night and climb well beyond that for suites and holiday dates; the Brazilian Court runs from roughly $450, and The Colony and Eau Palm Beach from about $350. Summer and shoulder months bring meaningfully lower rates. Resort fees, valet parking and a local tax are typically added, so confirm the all-in nightly price directly with each hotel.
