Score To Qualify

This is the result of scoring 2,250 luxury hotels against a single consistent rubric and publishing the 100 that scored highest. No advertiser bought a place on it. Where competitors hand-pick a few dozen favourites, we ranked the entire field and let the scores decide — then sense-checked the top against what discerning travellers actually experience.

How we ranked it. Every hotel earns a HotelsForKings score from 0–10 across our multi-criteria editorial rubric — rooms, service, location, design, dining and value. We applied it across 2,250 scored properties; the 100 highest-scoring make this list, with ties broken by criteria average and then alphabetically. Scores are reviewed continuously and the list is refreshed annually.

Scores are independent and editorial. We may earn an affiliate commission when you book through our links, at no cost to you — but placement is never for sale. Read our full methodology →

Frequently asked questions

How is the HotelsForKings 100 ranked?

Every property is scored 0–10 on our multi-criteria editorial rubric — rooms, service, location, design, dining and value. We applied it to 2,250 scored luxury hotels; the 100 highest make the list, with ties broken by criteria average. Scores are editorial and independent — we never accept payment for placement.

What is the number one hotel in the world for 2026?

Cheval Blanc Paris in Paris tops the 2026 ranking with a 9.9/10 score, alongside three other properties that share the top score.

How many countries and destinations are represented?

The 100 hotels span 71 destinations worldwide, from European capitals to remote Indian-Ocean atolls and African game reserves.

Does HotelsForKings get paid to include hotels?

No. Placement cannot be bought. We may earn an affiliate commission if you book through our links, at no cost to you, but this never influences a ranking or score.

How often is the list updated?

The HotelsForKings 100 is refreshed annually, with scores reviewed continuously as hotels renovate, change management, or open. This edition was last updated May 31, 2026.

Can a hotel use its placement in marketing?

Yes. Ranked hotels are welcome to display the official HotelsForKings 100 badge by linking to their entry. See our accolade page for the badge and guidelines.

What does the score actually measure?

It measures the quality of the guest experience at the top of the market — the physical product, the service culture, the setting, the design point of view, the food, and whether the price is justified — not amenities checklists or star classifications.
