The garden city, the Asian financial hub, and the world's most refined city-state. Singapore does luxury at its most polished and most varied, from heritage colonial to futuristic infinity-pool.

Mandarin Oriental leads our Singapore ranking for its harbour-front Marina Bay position, with Capella on Sentosa as the resort alternative and Raffles for colonial heritage. Fullerton Bay is the boutique pick over the water. Top rates run S$500 to S$1,200, February and March are driest, and Formula 1 week in late September triples prices.

Best for Business in Singapore

Singapore is APAC's business hotel laboratory. Marina Bay Sands with the SkyPark infinity pool at 200 metres is the most-recognisable APAC business hotel. Raffles Singapore, all-suite-only since 1887 and the city's colonial heritage flagship, remains the prestige-business address. The Fullerton Hotel in the restored 1928 General Post Office handles the Marina Bay-Civic-District dual position. Capella Singapore on Sentosa, the Norman Foster-restored 1880s Tanah Merah colonial-British barracks where the Trump-Kim 2018 summit was hosted, is the off-CBD venue of choice for high-level meetings. Maxwell Reserve, the former The Maxwell Reserve, Autograph Collection in a restored 1929 Tanjong Pagar building, now an Autograph Collection hotel, is the heritage option within walking distance of the CBD.

Booking Singapore: The Questions That Matter

What is the best hotel in Singapore?

Mandarin Oriental, Singapore is number one in our ranking: 527 rooms in the fan-shaped Marina Bay tower with full views of Marina Bay Sands and the skyline. Capella Singapore on Sentosa is the resort-style alternative and the city's most refined garden setting.

Where should a first-time visitor stay?

Marina Bay. It puts the skyline, Gardens by the Bay and the Civic District on foot, and holds Mandarin Oriental, The Fullerton Bay Hotel and Marina Bay Sands. Choose Sentosa only if you want a resort stay over a city one.

How much do Singapore's top hotels cost?

The top tier runs S$500 to S$1,200 a night, roughly $370 to $890. Capella's best suites pass S$1,500. Mid-tier luxury sits around S$350 to S$500, and festive-season premiums add 30 to 50 percent.

When is the driest time to visit Singapore?

February and March are typically driest. The climate is equatorial, 25 to 32C year-round, with rain possible any month; November through January brings the most of it.

How does Formula 1 week affect hotel prices?

The late-September night race fills the city and pushes Marina Bay rates to three or four times normal. If your dates touch the Grand Prix, book six to nine months ahead or stay in Orchard or Tanglin instead.

How far is Changi Airport from the main hotels?

About 25 minutes by taxi to Marina Bay or Orchard, S$25 to S$40. The MRT also reaches every hotel district, and Grab ride-share is reliable and reasonably priced.

Can anyone swim in the Marina Bay Sands infinity pool?

No. The 57th-floor SkyPark infinity pool is reserved for hotel guests, which is the main reason to book Marina Bay Sands. Non-guests can buy observation-deck tickets but cannot swim.
